About the Author
I'm a lifetime reader and writer with a newfound passion for teaching!
After spending my childhood reading and exploring the neighborhood woods in a small town of central Texas, I moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. I graduated in 2021 with a bachelors in English and creative writing, then a Masters in Fine Arts in creative writing in 2023, specializing in fiction. During my time at BYU, I worked as the lead fiction editor and later the editor-in-chief of Inscape, the university's literary journal. I also taught a freshman writing class and (more excitingly) an introductory creative writing course (English 218) where I taught poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and the craft of writing in general.
Though I've always been a storyteller, I wrote my first full-length book during my senior year in high school on one of the school library's public computers. And to be honest, I still cringe when I think that I let (read: begged) my high school crush to read that draft. Since then, I've learned to overcome the shame of bad drafts and have completed four additional novels, ranging from middle-grade to adult fantasy. I'm currently pitching my fifth and most recent book to agents and editors with the hopes of getting it published in the near future. While most of my novels have fantasy elements, I love telling grounded stories about heroes who struggle with their place in the world and are trying to understand themselves better. I love consuming stories in any form, from novels to music to film to games to regional folklore.
I also enjoy traveling quite a bit! In my early twenties I spent two years living in Buenos Aires, Argentina as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ, and I've been all over the United States as well as to England, Wales, Canada, and most recently Scotland on various trips. Edinburgh is probably my favorite city I've visited, which is predictable given my love of rainy days, green landscapes, and old buildings.
